I was born in Rolla, North Dakota-on vacation. We
lived in Valley City, North Dakota until I was a sophomore, when we
moved out to Seattle. It was quite a culture shock. I was way too shy
for the big schools and did not enjoy it much. I had always planned to
be a school teacher until I saw how the teachers here were treated. Then
I did not know what I wanted to do. I foolishly got married very young,
had four children, and divorced after 13 years. I had to go to work full
time after that - I had only done day care and sold Tupperware. I got a
job at Safeway and worked at three different stores during my 23 years
there. I met Doug after being single for 25 years. We married after
dating only 6 months. He let me leave Safeway and take a big pay cut and
start working at the Prosecutor's Office in downtown Seattle. We now
have lots of time together. It has been wonderful to have every evening,
weekend, and holiday off after never having them. It gives us time to do
some fun things like join the car club where we have met many very nice
people. I also love crafting and doing family things. My family is very
close and we spend every Sunday with my parents, Doug's son Brian, and
whichever of the kids, brother, sister, and grandkids can make it. We
love to play pinochle (except Doug) or other games. That is about it - a
simple but great life!. |
